The naming methodology for SDL trading symbols is similar to G-Secs (This Varsity chapter explains this with an example) -
Like every other Government Security SDLs also have a unique name or symbol. For example, let’s take 05.75APSDL2024 Security from the above snapshot. And, here is what it really means:
Annualized Interest – 05.75
State Code – AP (Andhra Pradesh in this case)
Type – SDL
Maturity – 2024
When searching, don’t prefix the 0 before the interest rate component and don’t use the dot symbol in the interest rate component of the name. Also, the year has to be shortened - 2024 becomes 24. The above example has the symbol 575AP24-SG (on NSE). In Kite, if you type the SDL keyword in Marketwatch, then the results get limited to only state development loans (these show SDLs listed on BSE only). These suggestions might help in searching for SDLs on Kite. But as liquidity in these instruments is very low in the secondary market, might be better to invest in them via ongoing auctions in Coin (issuance calendar).
Another way to find their trading symbols would be by using the ISIN from the above tables and searching using them in the BSE website (Search in Debt/Others category)
But, I have noticed that not all the above-listed SDLs are searchable (one cannot find them even on the NSE/BSE websites)
