Hi everyone,
I started options trading last December from then to today I am in a loss of 31 lakhs which is more than 4 times of my annual salary. 90% of the amount is debt(loans). I am feeling very sad can’t even express. I tried psychiatric session medicines to control myself after these things also I am still stuck there. Now it seems impossible to me to get out of this. My whole life is ruined now. My total monthly emis are my whole salary. Should I quit this life?
I am not able to cope with this now.
Dear Anonymous.
most of successful traders suffered with same things,
stop trading for some while. and start reducing bad debt. keep learn more things about market.
Dear @anonymous
We are really sorry to hear this
My only suggestion would be to talk to your loved ones. Seek their support and if needed, talk to your creditors to offer you some breathing space to sort your immediate financial requirements. There is still a lot of kindness around us. I’m sure you will receive some help.
Create a revival plan and stick to it. Divert yourself with the activities that make you happy.
Within 1-2 years, you’ll be in a reasonably comfortable position. Take a break from markets. Work hard in your job and if possible, create another alternative passive income source.
You will do alright. Trust me, Life is much more valuable than anything in the world.
It’s deeply concerning to hear about the distress and financial pressure you’re experiencing due to options trading losses. First and foremost, it’s important to recognize that while the situation is serious, there are steps you can take to seek help and begin to address the problems. Here are some immediate actions to consider:
- Seek Professional Help
Mental Health Support: Continue with psychiatric support or consider contacting a different mental health professional if you feel your current treatment isn’t helping. It’s crucial to have the right support when dealing with overwhelming stress.
Suicide Prevention Resources: If you’re having thoughts of harming yourself or ending your life, it’s important to talk to someone immediately. Please contact a local suicide prevention hotline or emergency services in your country.
- Financial Counseling
Consult a Financial Advisor or Counselor: Look for a professional financial counselor who can provide advice on debt management and financial planning. They can offer strategies to manage and eventually reduce the debt in a structured way.
Debt Restructuring: Explore options for restructuring your debt. This could involve negotiating with creditors for lower interest rates or consolidated payments that are more manageable within your budget.
- Pause Trading Activities
Stop Further Trading: It’s advisable to stop trading temporarily to prevent further losses. Trading under financial pressure and emotional distress can lead to poor decision-making.
Review Trading Strategy: Once you’re in a more stable state, review your trading strategy with a professional or a mentor in the field. Understand what went wrong and learn how you can avoid similar mistakes if you decide to trade again in the future.
- Develop a Financial Recovery Plan
Budgeting: Start a strict budget to control your spending and allocate more towards paying off debts.
Emergency Fund: Work towards building a small emergency fund, even if it’s with very small amounts, to help cover unexpected expenses without adding to your debt.
- Legal Advice
Consult a Lawyer: If you’re facing legal implications due to your debts, consult with a legal advisor who can provide guidance based on your specific situation.
- Support System
Reach Out to Friends and Family: Don’t isolate yourself. Share your troubles with trusted friends or family members who can offer support. Sometimes just talking about your problems can provide relief and clarity.
- Long-Term Considerations
Career and Income Options: Evaluate your current job and career prospects. Are there opportunities for additional income, such as part-time work or freelancing, that could help you manage your financial situation better?
- Health and Wellbeing
Maintain Physical Health: Often, mental and financial stress can take a toll on physical health. Try to maintain a routine that includes physical activity, which can greatly improve mental health.
Mindfulness and Stress Reduction: Practices such as meditation, yoga, or other mindfulness exercises can be very effective in managing stress and anxiety.
Final Thoughts
It’s essential to address both your mental health and financial issues concurrently, as they can often exacerbate each other. Taking small steps to stabilize your finances while seeking help for your emotional well-being can lead to a more balanced recovery. Remember, while the situation may seem overwhelming now, with the right support and strategies, you can work towards recovery and eventually regain control of your finances and life.
Let’s discuss out things here don’t take any action in hurry -
Can you show any evidence of loss of 31 lacs?
You come back after 12 months and you had to take ChatGPT’s assistance? Why why why?
Yes I will share give me some time I will attach to the Post
Thank you for your kindness and understanding my situation.
I touched all the limits and every closed one I know. 80% of people laughing on my condition. I have done such a mistake and I repeated it every time. I think it will stop with me
Just try to increase your expertise in current job and try to get into another job with high salary.,As time pass you will be alright , trust me.
It would always feel as a guilt and mistake if you will be in touch with market and news. So try to be as far as away from market.
Concentrate on improving job related skills. Continuously look for better salary. It will help manage debt.
Keep at least one sports activity on daily basis. Whichever you like. This will help relieve stress and keep away from market.
Try to repay debt first than investing or trading further.
My brother had similar debt issue 8 years back. He repaid his debt steadily. Jumped from one job to the other better one. And now he has his own house too.
Thank you so much
Don’t let negative things overcome you. Focus on adding positivity, keep yourself busy in anything you like, most important thing is to disconnect all market related things on internet and social media. Read 10 min Bhagavad Gita as it is even if atheist. Go to your age old support system like parents or old friends or maybe place of worship.
Money likes to change hands, it will come again, no matter how much debt, nothing is precious more than life.
THANK YOU
I am unable to do anything now , feeling stressed and numb. I will start reading Bhagvad Gita.
I can totally relate to your situation and if it gives any solace there are lot more people in same boat as you and I am one of them…Just take some time off and talk to your loved ones Dont worry, if people laugh at you, you vl come back stronger out of this. just buy some time from the creditors by any means.
Stop thinking about your losses all the time. Start showing gratitude to the universe for whatever it has offered to you. Read some good books …may be : “The Secret”.
Never ever think of taking our life…its the most precious gift by God so preserve it. Think about your loved ones. Talk to your family, they will definitely support you. Its never too late to start afresh.
New year is a good time to start.
Take care buddy and in case you need someone to listen send me your email address. Just be cheerful and firmly believe that there will be light at the end of this tunnel.
and last but not the least when you find yourself in a trench, just stop digging first.
Take care buddy…believe on yourself and the universe…

First thing to realize is that your Trading related actions are NOT working and you should STOP them NOW. Don’t think that you will be immediately recover. Take a good long break till the negative thoughts go out of your mind.
-
Pick up an additional gig job and try to close out the debt.
-
Ending life is not a solution. Breathe. After 3-5 years you will look back at this point in your life and thank your stars/God that you didn’t take any stupid decision. You would have a nice family, good friends and would have become more successful than you are now.
-
Once your debt’s are cleared, then and only then you may consider re-entering the market but with a very small capital which does not exceed what you cannot afford to lose (hopefully you have learned the lesson by then). Even here, if you have been day-trading, switch over to swing trading and slow down the pace of your trades. If you are buying/selling naked FnO, consider using Spreads.
We look forward to an update from you on this thread after 3-5 years and tell us how your life is now amazing and has changed for good and to help other fellow traders based on the mistakes from your life. That time, you may also be able to write a book of your own and become more succesfull!
Grit it out brother we have salary to support, pour your soul into work and improve pay slowly. Spend more time with people at work or home. Idle brain is devils workshop.
We are stronger than 31 lakhs f*** we are stronger than any amount of money. Fall back on family/friends. You will make crores in your life time. This too shall pass. Put your head down and grind for few years.
