I got shares as a gift from a “relative” {as per income tax law}. As it will show discrepancy on the price for a few days, can i manually write the price so that it will be easier for me in the long run to correctly view my P&L and it will also help me with tax calculation as i dont have to manually calculate it and will not have to separately maintain records just to put acquisition price.
If you are doing it via zerodha gift process, the stock cloisng price on the day of transfer is updated as your buy avg, in this case, you may request to update buy avg via creating a ticket. But in case of transfer via CDSL easiest transfer you can update the buy avg under the discrepancy tab.
