Here’s a little observation: every year on March 8th, stock brokers in India are quick to celebrate their female clients.
“Women investors are incredible!” they say, especially when the markets are on a high. But this year? The markets took a nosedive, and suddenly, all those messages stopped.
No shutouts, no “We appreciate you, ladies!” It’s like the stock market turmoil has everyone too busy trying to fix their own portfolios to remember the women who are still investing right alongside them.
Funny how priorities change when the market’s in the red.
It almost feels like women in finance are only celebrated when the portfolios are soaring, not when they’re riding out the same volatility. So, maybe the real priority for these male-dominated industries isn’t diversity or inclusion after all… it’s just about the profits.
When things go south, it’s all about scrambling to save face, not celebrating the journey.
Just something to think about.
#HappyInternationalWomensDay? Or is it more like, “We’ll check in once we’re winning again”?
