You have received ~15.3lk from CNC sell(Gsec).
This margins cannot be used take positions in MCX same day.
You can use this margins from tomorow for MCX trades.
WOW. Another absurd and useless thing from Zerodha. I request you to please tell me all those terms and conditions you have before I take my next trade. Does it make any sense or logic. What is the purpose of combining Zerodha Equity and Commodity then. Firstly my GSECS were unpledged taking my margin away. That due to CCIL and not Zerodha, thats ok. But when i am selling them that too at loss for arranging margin, I am introduced to new T&Cs. Yesterday, I could have taken short put positions in gold but I couldn’t and today I was forced to sell Puts at lower prices which have now became 1.5-2x due to high IVs. Why to worry about loss when zerodha is there. After giving lakhs of brokerage, you get this in return. Really poor and pathetic from zerodha.
@Aditya_Gupta
am curious as to what led you to believe that this would be possible in the first place? ![]()
(was this previously possible? or some other broker(s) support this?
or some article / comment implied that this is possible? or something else?)
Isnt the normal procedure is you sell stocks, you get funds, and you can use purchase other stocks, make positions in f&o. Right? Am i missing something
Entire margin from sale-proceeds on the same day before actual settlement?
This is a relatively recent development.
( looks like the 1-year anniversary today
)
@Meshak_T can you elaborate the exact reason(s)
the margin is unavailable on the same-day in this case -
-
because GSECs sold ?
- would 100% same-day margin to invest in MCX have been available if some stock or ETF were sold?
-
because attempting to invest in MCX ?
- would 100% same-day margin be available to invest in an ETF or GSEC in NSE?
-
because sale proceeds and investment are not in the same exchange?
- would 100% same-day margin be available to invest on MCX if some holding were sold on MCX?
-
Something else? eg. the specific GSECs sold were not considered liquid and hence proceeds from their sale couldn’t be considered for margin (until they are actually settled)?
Please do share links/references to any relevant support articles or circulars (if any).
As we have recently started single ledger facility, the margin allocation process to allow securities sell credit to use in MCX is a work in progress and should be available in coming few weeks.
No its same for all. Sell credit of GSECs ETF and stocks are currently not allowed to trade in MCX same day.
Yes, you can use it to buy in NSE/BSE same day.
You cannot sell holdings in MCX, but if you exit a position in MCX you can use entire procceds to trade in MCX.
As stated earlier, currently is not allowed. It’s WIP. Nothing to do with GSECs specifically being sold.
Ok today i have sold a gsec for purchasing another gsec. But same issue still persists. For MCX, it may be different but for puchasing GSec also, margin is still not updating. If there is particular issue with sale of gsec, you can tell about that. Or is it still WIP after 20 odd days?
We see that you have sold Gsec that were in T1. You cannot use the credit from selling T1 holdings (Buy Today Sell Tomorrow [BTST] trades) on the same day due to regulatory requirements (PDF).
It’s explained here.
