According to data on NSE site, ITC share holding pattern is 100% public. ITC Total Market Cap is approx 30% more than Free Float Market Cap.
As per the definitions available, Free Float is all share available for trading, so, since in this case it is 100%, shouldn’t Total Market Cap be the same as Free Float?
The following categories are excluded from the free float factor computation:
Shareholding of promoter and promoter group
Government holding in the capacity of strategic investor
Shares held by promoters through ADR/GDRs.
Strategic stakes by corporate bodies
Investments under FDI category
Equity held by associate/group companies (cross-holdings)
Employee Welfare Trusts
Shares under lock-in category
