Yes there is absolutely no restriction on the amount of money you can invest in Mutual Fund of your choice. However before you do the lumpsum investment (2 lacks in one go), do read about the pro and cons of Lumpsum investment and staggered investments. Once you have understood this, take your call.

There is no limit or maximum amount that you can invest in a mutual fund. It totally depends on your financial goals and risk-taking abilities. There are certain types of funds that have limited liquidity and they might only allow you to invest a limited amount. Other than that there is no upper limit to investing in mutual funds. To open a new account in a diversified equity fund, Rs.5000/- is the minimum. If you’re going to [invest in a Mutual fund via a SIP a minimum of Rs. 1000/- investments are required per month for a period of 6 months.

Some mutual funds which handle a very large AUM can impose restrictions from time to time which can include not accepting lumpsum investments or limiting the SIP amount. Mirae AMC runs one such fund which does not accept lumpsum and only considers SIP of no more than 2500. But these are few and far in between. Normally, there is no upper limit to investment and you can invest as much as you like.
