Even I received the same message. So Googled.

Some of our clients might have received emails and SMS on early pay-in instructions from CDSL. No action is needed from your end for this email or SMS. This communication was sent as a follow-up to this circular.

Hi Deepa, yes, no action needed here from clients’ end.

Hopefully it has nothing to do with Axis Bank Shares sold yesterday which were allotted in ofs

This is different, Amit.

What it means actually

CDSL is informing all clients about the mapping of the Unique Client Code (UCC) with client accounts for trade clearing process. This needs no action from clients. Here is the circular if you’d like more details.

Some action may be required from client side IF broker and DP are 2 different entities like say Broker is BDH securities and DP is IDBI bank . in cases where the client give DIS for shares sold some action may be required. more information will be highly appreciated.

While opening an account with another broker yesterday, they were asking for UCC of existing brokers. I didn’t provide them my UCC with Zerodha as I wasn’t sure what UCC was. Will there be any problem?

As per the regulations, depositories shall validate the depository transfer instruction details with Clearing Corporation (CC) obligation details. If the transfer and obligation details match, the transaction goes through. However, if the details don’t match, the transfer is rejected. The clients are not required to take any action here, as trading members/depository participants/depositories/exchanges check and match the PAN and link all the active UCCs across the Demat accounts.

No, once the account gets activated depositories and exchanges will run a check and match the PAN and link all the active UCCs across your Demat accounts.

Hi,

Does this affect transferring shares from one CDSL a/c to another? Like for example in case of gifting of shares?

Hi Tanveer, no, this won’t impact transfer of shares.
