The interest rate is 0.04% per day, or 40 per lakh on the funded amount. Interest starts from T+1 day and is charged until the shares are sold.
You can get up to 5x leverage, depending on the stock. You can check the approved stocks and the leverage available for each here: Approved list of securities that can be pledged for margins
With 10K, if a stock allows 5x leverage, you can buy shares worth 50,000. You invest 10,000, we fund the rest, and interest is charged only on the funded amount. More here.
Can’t we prescribe how much leverage we want?
It is to manage risk.
