MTF(Margin Trading Facility)

I have seen that GTT feature for mtf is available on DHAN and KOTAK NEO
is it available with other brokers and also provide names.

Does HDFCSKY provide GTT feature for mtf? And secondly any reviews on HDFCSKY platform

@siva @TheGouda MTF margin check seems flawed. look at the screenshots below of my funds availability and the order rejection. all the rejected orders required me to have 50k from my side and rest as MTF from Zerodha. 2nd screenshot is that of funds page. No issues there.

what is the issue? why orders are rejected. Look at my order qty and price…and you will notice that mtf margin required from me is 50k approx. I tried other scrips and same issue. double checked with zerodha approved list of securities as well.

DM your client id so that we can check and revert back.

sent.

I think i now understand the issue - the opening cash balance is considered and NOT the proceeds from sold holdings.

please check if my assumption is correct.

thanks.

Yes CNC sell proceeds can’t be used to buy MTF. Only free cash can be used to buy MTF.

@siva @Ragavendran_M CDSL pledge authorization is a pain. have been entering OTP but no success message. now faced with system error message. screenshot below. tried different browsers as well.

on top of this your automated call to verify pledge is also annoying - once or twice is OK.

This again a negative of the current setup. I stand the risk of my MTF being converted to CNC (for which i don’t have enough cash balance) and being levied penalty/interest charges for no fault on my side.

Any workaround?

… UPDATE …

It took about 7-8 attempts to get the success confirmation message.

This happens many times. CDSL has poorly designed systems. Nothing can be done about it.

Other platforms like Dhan and Fyers offer a convenient in-app process to pledge shares after 4 PM. The process on these other platforms is streamlined and requires only an OTP for verification, we don’t have to enter any pan or any other details while your platform requires a manual setup through the CDSL website, which is less efficient. It would be helpful if your platform could offer a more streamlined process for pledging shares, similar to other platforms. This would save users time and effort.

I agreed he is correct, the swing traders will look into a several opportunities to invest, if all out money has invested in a single stock, we won’t be able to diversify our investment for other stocks

@nithin or other zerodha people why would some one take MTF for buying NiftyBees/FNO stocks. Even the at the peak of bull market, the 1 year synthetic future will be less than 10%, currently at 7%

You can’t really compare Dhan to Zerodha. Dhan has got big ambitions, and they are doing some epic stuff. Wait and watch how the market leaders are caught off-guard, few years down the line.

Similarly to how AngelOne caught all the full-service and even discount brokerages off-guard.

What happens if I place MTF orders, but there is enough cash in the trading account? Will I be charged MTF brokerage, or the usual 0%ish? In other words, will it be treated as cash purchase at the back end, since there are enough funds throughout the day (from purchase time till end of day).

One can take for a week or for a month, maybe before a event, swing traders etc if they are expecting a big up movement etc.

It will be treated as mtf trade only, users may use remaining amount for something else which we are unaware.

Noob question, but I have activated MTF for my account. How/where do I pledge for MTF specifically (not for fno margins, only for MTF)? Also, I assume once I pledge for MTF, I can buy any stock/bond I want, even those not in the MTF list through MTF?

To pledge for MTF, place a buy order from the MTF section on the order window. After placing the order, you will receive a pledge request by 5:30 PM on the same day.You must accept the pledge request before 7 PM for the MTF order to be successful.

To be clear, I want to buy securities not in the MTF list, by pledging beforehand the securities in the MTF list.

I’ve bought 5 stocks using MTF and pledged, so pledge charges will apply to all 5 stocks (Rs 30 x 5 = Rs150) or will it only charge once (Rs 30) ?

In ICICI Direct if we Buy shares using MTF, interest will be charged as low as 27/day/1 Lakh… is that daily compounding or Simple Interest for Total no.of Days?
If I buy 100 shares using MTF & after few days I’m with a profit of 20,000 can I square off by booking profit or do I need to pay total MTF Amount to sell the MTF shares?
((If I buy 100 SBI Shares@800/share with 20000 margin money MTF 60,000. After 10 Days shares went to 900 with a profit of 10,000… can I square off without paying MTF 60,000 or do I need to pay 60,000 to book 10,000 profit?))
Plz clarify @agrawal_prateek

Pledge charges are applicable as per ISIN. So it will be Rs.150
