I want to apply for a visa and want to show my Mutual Fund investments as a proof of funds.
I get a statement from CDSL every month ie Consolidated Account Statement (CAS) but the issue with this document is that it has “layers” in it where in a portion of the text is either in Hindi/English and when I try to print it or save it as another PDF (to remove the password protection) both the Hindi and English text get overwritten.
Any suggestion of where I can get generate such a statement or how to sort this issue with the CDSL statement would me much appreciated?
You could try reaching out to your fund house or bank directly and requesting an official statement on their letterhead showing your investments—they might provide one without the language layering issue. Another option is to download the CAS in PDF format, then use a PDF editor to remove the password and save it in a format compatible with most visa application requirements.
I know that using a mutual fund statement as proof of funds for a visa application can work, but there are a few things to keep in mind. Visa offices usually look for stability and easy access to funds, so they may prefer seeing bank statements or savings accounts because those show readily available funds. Mutual funds can be a bit trickier since their value can go up or down, and sometimes, they take longer to cash out. That said, it’s not impossible. If your mutual fund statement shows a good, stable amount over a few months, it might help your case.If you’re also asked for documents like criminal background checks, don’t forget you may need them certified with an ACRO certificate apostille.
