Name some stocks that won’t go to 0 and explain why.

While no stock is 100% risk-free , certain established companies have an extremely low probability of going to zero due to strong fundamentals, consistent revenue, and industry dominance. For example,

Reliance Industries – Diversified giant (Retail, Telecom, Oil).
TCS & Infosys – Global IT leaders with stable revenue.
HDFC Bank – India’s biggest private bank with strong financials.
HUL & Nestlé India – FMCG leaders with daily-use products.
Bharti Airtel – Key telecom player with consistent earnings.

These companies have high cash flow, essential industries, and strong management, making them highly resilient!

I agree with you but these companies are already too big to give us decent returns in the future. Instead of buying these, I can buy NIFTY ETF and replicate almost the same returns.

It’s up to individual preferences; this was just an example of why these stocks have the lowest probability of going to zero.

the WHY has no meaning in your question because the stock will do what its going to do. not because anyone came and wrote the why here.

And i can write any stock and any why, then you wait for eternity to prove that it became 0.

what i am saying, is change your perspective of looking at stocks. The question itself represents a deeper problem.

The intent behind asking these questions is to explore various perspectives. For example, SBI is state-owned, and it could potentially go to zero if the Indian government defaults, though such an event is rare. I want to see if there are any other stocks like this that I may not be aware of. This could also be useful to others

Won’t happen.
If it does, there is no point of having any wealth in India. That will also be equivalent to 0.

If indian government is defaulting in an actual sense, I can assure you SBI share price is the last thing you’ll be worried about😂

Stocks may or may not go to Zero. Many companies become obsolete in 15-20 year timeframe. But some companies multiply many times too.

But the key thing is, we got to ensure that even if some stocks go to Zero. Our portfolio doesn’t become zero. :grimacing:

Sharing this timeless quote that @nithin tweeted long ago:

“I have two basic rules about winning in trading as well as in life: (1) If you don’t bet, you can’t win. (2) If you lose all your chips, you can’t bet.”

Think different Index ETFs as stocks
Unless entire nation is wiped out , probability of going down any index ETF is extremely low.

TLDR: One may not be sure if any stock wont go to zero or not, but can be fairly confidant that any broad market index will not go to zero.

Here’s the composition of Sensex in 1979

Wonder how many of these companies, that are no longer part of the market, got renamed; got merged or acquired; got delisted; or actually went kaput.

On a lighter note, the stock that will never go to zero is the one that we haven’t invested in.
