New margin framework is here - to benefit hedged positions

This just means that for brokers who are not ready get more time. For brokers who are ready, can obviously provide this benefit even before 1 May. Anyway 1 June is the last date. Any broker can implement much before that. @siva-reddy has confirmed in this post that they are ready to provide benefit much before 1 May, so I am still hopeful that the benefits come to Zerodha customers from at least 1 May. Zerodha was just waiting for NSE circular ; that has come yesterday.

See this post where @siva-reddy has confirmed they are ready but then they were waiting for NSE circular.

NSE has to do the changes, we have to wait till NSE come up with this.

Phew! OK, which means it will most likely be 1 June…So brokers don’t have any prep work to do? I mean apart from loading the NSE Margin file on to their systems… Just wondering how you initially thought it was possible to do it before 1 May! @siva-reddy

It is always like that, span margins will come from NSE, whenever they start brokers will be ready.

Oh Right! Thanks @siva-reddy. So it’s basically more of when exchange implements it rather than when a broker implements it… Got it…

Hey @siva-reddy say I have sold an option, and placed a buy sl-m order a few points away on the same strike as stop ( Intraday )…does this qualify for the new margin reduction framework?

No the orders of buy n sell have to be placed togather,it will mostly be recognised by brokers as a single order

What about charges in that case?

Hi,

Can anyome briefly explain impact of 27th April’s SEBI notifications for intraday equity traders?

What will change after 1st June?

Can you share said notif?

hey @siva-reddy the sample sheet shared above:

  • bear call spread in the example would now cost 33k+ to take…that i’m assuming is if you want to carry the position over night, right?

  • There would also be additional leverage on top if it is an intra trade, right?

Likely,yes.

Yeah.

amazing

How can we buy and sell in a single order

Think the implementation specifics will be much clear when zerodha rolls the feature out

It is like select the strike for ic you will see the amount you will receive if you have used credit strategy/or amount decucted if it is a debit strategy.
