what if i sell nifty options in expiry and leave it to lapse. assuming it becomes 0.

If you have taken position using MIS, then you will have to square-off your position by 3:25 PM, post which RMS will square-off and charges will be applicable.
If you take position using NRML, you can leave it to expire as it is OTM and expires worthless there will be no charges applicable.
