I would like to seek clarity regarding the non-availability of Nifty 5 Year Benchmark G-Sec ETF and Nifty 5 Year Benchmark G-Sec Funds of Fund (FoF) for pledging as collateral margin for F&O trading on Zerodha TradingQnA / Zerodha.
Currently, the following instruments are not available for pledging to obtain collateral margin for F&O trading on Zerodha:
Nippon India ETF Nifty 5 Yr Benchmark G-Sec
Nippon India ETF Nifty 8–13 Yr G-Sec (Long Term Gilt)
Motilal Oswal Nifty 5 Yr Benchmark G-Sec ETF
ICICI Prudential Nifty 5 Yr Benchmark G-Sec ETF
Motilal Oswal 5 Year G-Sec Fund of Fund
However, I observe that Dhan.co allows pledging of the following instruments for collateral margin in F&O trading:
Nippon India ETF Nifty 5 Yr Benchmark G-Sec
Nippon India ETF Nifty 8–13 Yr G-Sec (Long Term Gilt)
Nifty 5Benchmark G-Sec is a highly liquid instrument.
Please make the above ETFs and related FOFs for pledging for collateral margin in F&O trading.
Currently, we allow pledging only those securities that are approved by the Clearing Corporation (CC). The G-Sec ETFs and FoFs mentioned are not part of the CC-approved list yet, which is why they are unavailable for pledging on Zerodha.
We’re already working on expanding the list, and some of these instruments may be enabled for pledging in the future.
Yes, you’re right these are CC-approved securities. However, they’re currently not available because the broker-level and market-wide permissible limits are exhausted. Once limits free up, they’ll become pledgeable again. You can check again from the 1st jan, as quantities get updated.
Going forward, we plan to show a status , so this is clearer to users.
The screenshot below is taken on 1-Jan-2026 gives ambiguous information on GLIT5YBEES and LTGILTBEES. Both instruments simultaneously available and not available for pledging.
