NRI account opening

Can an nri trade in nse international exchange? Will he still be liable to pay income tax?

Can I OPEN AN NRI trading & denat account in Zerodha? What are the Documents required?

Yes, you can.

You can learn all about NRI accounts here.

If the NRI is in India during leave and then applies for an NRO Non-PIS demat account in Zerodha, then also does he needs his documents to be notarized?
Will only self-attestation of the documents work?

Hi @metallicsigma , if the KYC is not registered, then notarization of documents is mandatory for opening an NRO Non-PIS account. This ensures proper verification of identity and address when documents are submitted remotely.

However, if the NRI is currently in India and visits any of our partner offices in person, notarization won’t be required. If they’re in Bangalore, they can visit our office along with the documents mentioned here and complete the process without notarization.

Thank you very much for detailed reply.

I already have NRE/NRO bank account and a securities account with a big bank. So I think KYC is already complete.
I checked my KYC status on [CVL KRA website], it showed KYC registered with NDML KRA but it didn’t show anything regarding RESIDENT/NRI status. Do you know where can I check RESIDENT/NRI status of my KYC?

To check the KYC status, we need details. This isn’t available to clients directly. If you’re already registered with us, please DM your client ID or ticket number so we can fetch the details and assist you further.
