NRI and non-individual account opening

I have an individual account with Zerodha, and whenever I call the support number for NRI and non-individual account openings, my call automatically connects to the general support team. They then transfer my call to the account opening team.

It seems there is an issue with Zerodha’s customer care numbers, as all the support numbers direct calls to the same support team, which then passes them on to the appropriate departments. This process takes around five minutes.

I’m confused about the purpose of having multiple support numbers if all calls are routed to the same team.

Let me clarify how our NRI & non-individual account opening number works: 080 4680 5727 (Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM).

Here’s how the routing works:

  • Calling from a registered number → Routes to general support first, as the query could be about your existing account
  • Calling from a non-registered number → Connects directly to the NRI & non-individual account opening team

Since you’re calling from your registered number, the system assumes you may need help with your current account, which is why you’re routed through support first before being transferred to account opening.
