Let say, If I hold long position in Nifty futures and I don’t bought back on expiry then exchange charge STT as 0.01% on sell side, But for options(ITM) I was in short but couldn’t buy back so exchange charged STT as 0.125%. So, Can any one explain why STT charges are different for Futures & Options on expiry of a contract?

Buyer of ITM option is charged 0.125% STT on expiry as it is exercised. Since you had shorted the option, you should not have been charged any STT unless I missed something. Check with your broker.
