Option trading - yesterday Adani power Buy Put - 1. 25, strike price - 50. 1. 25 is for 1 share or whole lot?

Hi Arijit,

If you look in any options contract in trading software buy price and sell price shows for only one unit(share). So while buying or selling you need to whole value(lot size * price).

it is for 1 share

Option prices are quoted on a per share basis. Therefore Rs.1.25/- is per share. However there is a minimum number of shares that you need to buy, this is called the Lot Size. In case of Adani Power, lot size is 8,000. So the total cash you need will be Rs.10,000 (8000 x 1.25 ).

Monday - Gap up. . . Adani Power 52.50 PE going to 0.30.rs    Hope you only enquired with Zerodha & not bought.

I have just asked zerodha customer care and they say 1.25 for whole lot i.e. in the case 8000 shares. Please correct me if I am getting wrong

can you tell me. which strike price/expiry you are asking.

Adani Power :- Put - LTP - 1.30/Strike Price - 52.50/ expiry Aug

If LTP is 1.30
you need to have 10400 that is ( 8000 * 1.30)

Thnx for your valuable comment.

Who told you in customer care, that 1.25 is for whole lot?
You cannot even buy single tea in 1.25, be realistic.

Hello Tracker, The so called ‘basic info’ differs from person to person in the market … we have a market constituting crores of traders, with 10s of 1000s of new traders entering every day … so, its natural that they may not know … they have to ask some one nd which is the better place than trading QnA? … after all, this forum is meant for that … lets not discourage them … … frankly, it took some days for me to get the idea of shorting sinking into my small brain … i just couldn’t imagine “selling” something which we don’t own … it was not so in the trades which i came accross in daily life … hehehehe
On the lighter side of it, even my account is open for such offers … lol
