What are the dangers and pitfalls of carrying forward an options position till expiry, other than STT?

After from this the risk of holding on to OTM option, with a hope that it becomes an ITM option can be a bit of s concern.
Sir can you please elaborate on that? What is the problem with holding em OTM contract with the hopes of it turning ITM?
