I was trying to build a dashboard for my investments (It will track all my open positions, it will show closed positions, XIRR, Booked pnl and all other stats, as so called Hi-tech brokers do not provide such informative dashboards).
To do that I want to have basic data, So I simply went to broker’s (ZERODHA AND GROWW) backend and downloaded P&L Reports.
DATA SETS I NEED - Stock Name, Its buy date, Sell date, Its qty and average price.
Thats it.
Let’s see how these top two brokers represent the data and how user friendly these reports are. I will simply show the headers of excel sheet that we download.
GROWW P&L REPORT STRUCTURE
Stock name | ISIN | Quantity | Buy date | Buy price | Buy value | Sell date | Sell price | Sell value | Realised P&L | Remark
ZERODHA P&L REPORT STRUCTURE
Symbol | ISIN | Quantity | Buy Value | Sell Value | Realized P&L | Realized P&L Pct. Previous Closing | Price | Open Quantity | Open Quantity Type | Open Value Unrealized P&L | Unrealized P&L Pct.
Quite easy to tell which report format is more user friendly.
@Meher_Smaran @ShubhS9, Please tell me where and how can I find a report that gives me buy date and sell date of a script on a single page. It is possible that I am not aware of such report which is already there on console. Please guide in that case.
Though I know what happens next and things you guys would say:-
- Post will be ignored
- It’s on our to do list (Everything god damn thing is on your list only)
- It is very complex to implement (As if other brokers have magical powers)
- We will look into the possibilities and update here (Just diplomatic answers)
- Passed on the information to the reporting team (and team slept on the info)
To be honest, I am kinda done with zerodha. Where tech and all bs is juts a bluff. Where tickets remain open for months
I guess we have all the reasons why Zerodha lost its top position. I rest my case. Expecting nothing from here.
