Positions limit for options

What are the position limits for options in regards to both stock options and index options in the NSE and the BSE, for a regular trade?

Check this link on NSE.

Clientwise position limit is 5% of the total open interest of all derivative contracts in the same underlying.

Hi Nithin, I came across this page a couple of days ago, where there is something else stated for a regular trader, it states that a regular trader can hold upto 15% of the open interest without disclosure on index options and 5% on the stock options. Can you please tell me if this is true or not? I have posted the link below if you would like to have a look at the page:

Hmm… hadn’t seen this on SEBI website, but what sebi says is just a guideline to the exchanges. We have to go by what NSE says, 5% of OI.

But on the BSE index, a client level trader can own upto 15% of the Open Interest on the Index Options unlike the NSE? atleast that what it says on their website.

I had another question regarding the percentage of the Open Interest that a trader can own. So for example on the NSE there is a 5% Limit on the total amount of Open Interest a single trader can own. so when a trader is exploring several different options contracts available on the index, is the trader only authorized to purchase 5% of the total Open Interest on one particular contract? Or is it that the trader at most can own 5% of the cumulative amount of Open Interest that exists throughout all the contracts (both call & put) available on an index?
