Q About holdings

I have brought 3 shares at BSE but it shows hold in both exchanges why?
any logic is there ?

@ganesh07

What this indicates is that you have a holding of 3qty in MOIL and you can either sell it in NSE or BSE. The holding quantity in your marketwatch loads based on the stock and not the exchange. If the stock trades in both NSE and BSE, then the holding quanitity will show up in both since it can be sold in either.

Assume this scenario where you have 3 shares of MOIL bought in NSE and you load MOIL BSE on your marketwatch. It will still indicate that you have 3 shares of MOIL which is what is expected to be seen.

ok that fine,
but you told sell means fresh sell or previous position (buy) square off ie. short

Now i want to know whether-

  1. can we buy at BSE and square off at NSE (for delivery position)
  2. can we buy at BSE and square off at NSE (for intraday position)

i am thinking that if you brought at BSE (CNC/MIS) then square off should be done at BSE, if you sell at NSE it would be consider as fresh short !!
please explain…

  1. Yes, you can buy in BSE and sell it in NSE only after the shares have entered your Demat account
  2. You cannot buy in BSE and sell in NSE on an intraday basis. If you do this, it will be considered as two different positions.
