Question about selling of ESOPs and 54EC

Hi,

If i am selling the ESOPs, and then quickly invest the difference (taxable money) in 54EC bonds, should i still need to pay taxes? The ESOPs are in the US market and i live in India.

IIUC, 54EC exemption on capital-gains is NOT applicable on sale of stocks.
