How can we buy RBI Savings Bond… I read that we can purchase only through demat account. Can we buy it through Zerodha… What is the procedure for it.

@siva @VenuMadhav Do you have any idea about this?

Through your trading account at Zerodha, you would be able to invest into instruments trading on the secondary markets and new issues from RBI when the Exchanges open a non-competitive bidding window every week for G-Secs.

This is what I got of the internet: “You can buy the bonds from the Stock Holding Corporation of India or any of the branches of the nationalised banks and few of the private sector banks such as ICICI Bank, HDFC and Axis Bank.”

Once you buy these bonds, you can hold them in demat form in your demat account at Zerodha.

Do we need open account with SHCL? Any other option to buy them online and use Zerodha account as demat?

It doesn’t seem like zerodha supports buying RBI savings/floating rate bonds. ICICI branch people want me to open a demat account with them. In that case, I would have to close my zerodha one as I don’t want 2 accounts
