Same here. I received two of them. One is same as above. The other is as follows:
ZERODHA, BSE Fund Bal Rs XXXXX NetFundBal Rs XXXXXX QtyShares 0 AsOn31072017 Check email
This is the SMS sent by BSE on 24 Aug 2017.
The format of the SMS is ‘Broker, BSE FundBal : NetFundBal : QtyShares AsOn31072017’
Here, the Broker is Zerodha. BSE FundBal/NetFundBal is your Equity cash balance as of 31 July 2017. You can verify this balance on your ledger as of the same date. QtyShares is the quantity of shares pledged with Zerodha. If you’ve pledged say 100 BPCL shares and 150 TataSteel shares with Zerodha, then your QtyShares = 250.
@BharatW, Thank You
I received message from Zerodha and Share Khan.
SMS will be sent every month / quarterly basis ? Is it only for BSE , what about NSE and MCX ?
Will I received the same information via email as well or just the SMS?
This SMS is currently sent out by BSE only. Going forward, the SMS will be sent out by NSE and MCX as well. These SMSs will be sent out on a monthly basis.
I have not bought any share from BSE, then why is it showing a cash balance for me?

I received similar message from SBI CAP Securities with negative FundBal/NetFundBal and 0 QtyShares. What does that mean ?
Every exchange is trying to inform the clients about monthly closing balance and number of shares are pledged with the broker and its not depend on the stocks bought on NSE/BSE/MSE.
Is it normal to get such sms or email from the exchange for a closed demat account?
I received it for a demat account i held earlier but later closed.
@BharatW @Bhuvan
Zero Fund balance means: there is No pending (zero) amount that your bank needs to settle into your account. In short, all your holdings or investments transactions are done. Nothing pending.
Fund balance does not mean your holding amount. I understand that these terms being used are confusing to layman individuals.
