How do I check why did I received that money?
No, I don’t. None of the stocks I hold distributed dividend recently. Also the mutual funds I own are all ‘growth’ type.
Do you hold sovereign gold bonds?
The interest is credited by cdsl.
Is there a way to easily check who paid me dividend and when? Coz I just received one today and no idea from where.
You can read the narration in the bank statement it would highlight the company’s name.
Bank stmt narration is very bad, although it has improved recently but I can tell you it is still hard sometimes.
TCS buyback offer had me scratching for weeks before i realized thats how the funds had come.
Sometimes the receiver bank has no choice but to forward crap posted by the remitter.

In such cases for dividends, you can check onto console>portfolio>holdings.
You can check this support article link to know more about it.
It appears like the money was a payout from Sovereign Gold Bond. Couldn’t figure this out through Zerodha console or bank statement. Had to explicitly check for the sgb payout dates online.
It’d be a good option if I can see info on all investment related bank transactions like dividend, sgb payout, etc in a single place like console.
People working at zerodha, please look into this.
