Regarding Option strangle position

Hi,
I have a doubt regarding taking short strangle position. For example if i want to do short strangle in range of 34000 and 32000 in bank nifty options, I have to sell 34000CE, and 32000PE respectively.
My question: Can I do both leg separately? or I had to take both leg position at the same time. Will be the margin required will be same as of doing the sell both together or will it be different in selling both at different period in a day? I am asking about to take normal position?

Not sure what you mean by both legs separately.
It is always two different orders AFAIK. When you place the first order either CE or PE, full margin will be deducted, let’s say 1 lakh. When you place the other leg anytime after that CE/PE you don’t have to pay 1 lakh margin again. You will have to pay may be Rs 20000 extra. That’s your margin benefit. Please refer to zerodha margin calculator for exact numbers.

Create basket order and fire. Of course they are not sent all at once. They are processed individually. So u need more margin for first order to go through.

ok. thank you

You’ll essentially be placing seperate orders for both the legs. You can easily place and check margin requirements for your strategy using Basket Order. More on basket orders here.
