I just wonder, according to section 8 of the Citizenship Act, 1955, a person who like to live in an another country, would have to cease the citizenship of India.
Now, most of the trader live dubai as there permanent living, maybe due to some tax issue, i never visit dubai, so i dont know ( poverty on its peak )
Till june over 87000 people leave india, so the people who got cease there indian citizenship, do they able to recover there citizenship back?
Permanent residency in foreign country doesn’t make you a foreign citizen.
Unless such foreign country grants you its citizenship, the person would still continue to be an Indian citizen (i.e NRI).
If the citizenship of a person is automatically revoked because he is a permanent foreign resident, many people will become STATELESS (ie., not a citizen of any country).
India doesn’t allow holding dual citizenship, so once you become a foreign citizen, you would have to give up Indian citizenship.
So first you have to become a foreign citizen, it would mostly take at least 10 years for that, and only then you can renounce your Indian citizenship.
Once they cease their citizenship, they would become a foreigner and they would have to go through the same process like a foreigner, to become an Indian citizen again
And Yes, a person holding foreign citizenship can become an Indian citizen provided they meet the eligibility criteria. The recent example would be the Actor Akshay Kumar, who renounced his Indian citizenship and became a Canadian citizen, and later renounced that and became an Indian citizen again.
