SEBI notice to brokers over Tradetron

Hi,

What is zerodha’s stand over tradetron now that all brokers have recieved a notice ? Should those who are using it to automate their trades stop ? @nithin

I think it is not about using API through their algo, rather business association with them, like zero brokerage on algo referred accounts, promo etc. Zerodha has no such type of association with TradeTron as far as I know. @nithin

Okay, I just saw zerodha’s name also in the list

We have/had no association with Tradetron or any other such platforms. If you are using it, you are willingly taking on the risks associated with the platform.

If tradetron is not following rules ( showing returns), why don’t they send them notice too?
Other guys like squareoff seem to have been forced to change.

Notice for what?

Customer is giving api keys to tradetron. Isn’t that how it works? Tradetron isn’t some official intermediary right

Zerodha is not even involved here.

SEBI just sends notices everytime. Broker can clarify how it works instead of making sebi employees spend time doing research work to see how it works

From what i read, problem is that they advertise assured returns somewhere which is not allowed.

Based on youtube videos, squareoff guys seem to be changing their business model after getting sebi notice for example.

The notices were issued by SEBI as a part of its larger probe into Tradetron and other algo platforms. Many of these brokerage firms continued their association with Tradetron even after giving an undertaking to the regulator that they have discontinued their association with the platform, the report said

Tradetron was displaying algo trading strategies promising assured returns on its website, Sebi noted. However, SEBI’s 2022 circular prohibits stockbrokers from any association with platforms offering assured returns.

So, it is the assurance of returns that seems to be violating the SEBI guidelines, and association with such violator, brings the brokers under SEBI’s lens.

No stock broker was associated with them? They were doing it all alone by just using API keys

I’m not concluding anything, just quoting the context from the news article.

Seems few brokers partnered with them and advertised them on their websites.
