Hi @manoj_reddy Apologies for the inconvenience. The breakdown of transfers to the secondary demat should match what you see in the primary demat. We’ve noticed a few incorrect entries that need updating, and our team is working on correcting them. We’ll keep you updated through the ticket.
I had raised a concern regarding a price discrepancy, but instead of fixing it, what they’ve done is moved the issue under primary demat. That way, the secondary demat shows up as fine on record, even though the original problem is still there.
We’ve already opened a secondary demat account with Zerodha, but this handling has left me in a dilemma. From what I understood earlier, secondary demat is still in beta, so I’m not sure how reliable it is if issues just get pushed under primary.
Can anyone clarify:
- Is the secondary demat account now fully stable and supported for all clients, or still considered beta?
- For cases like mine (price mismatch / transfer issue), is there any proper resolution path apart from shifting everything to primary?
Would appreciate inputs from others who have faced something similar.
Hi @Ruchi_Porwal ,
I see the ticket#20250821753404 is marked as duplicate and closed without checking or resolving the issue.
tickets I shared are for two different issues related to discrepancy of BUY dates and QTY in the primary and secondary Demat account.
I understand the intention of this feature to reduce the impulse nature of selling the shares/ save taxes but I feel like i should have opened an account with a different broker and continued with the transfer via CDSL Easiest instead of dealing with this buggy feature of Secondary demat account transfer which was launched without proper testing and need to wait for a month to see my shares are reflecting properly in the DEMAT account with correct QTY and BUY Price.

Hi @sandeep_cs ,
This feature has been officially launched, as announced on the official Zerodha YouTube channel: link.
It functions correctly when transferring a single scrip from the primary to the secondary demat account. However, when transferring more than five scrips, issues have been observed in Console related to the buy dates and quantities.
Additionally, if a transfer to the secondary demat account is initiated from Console and cancelled the selected scrips are displayed under Discrepancy in the Kite Holdings and console.
It would be great to have a response from the @Ruchi_Porwal team regarding the timeline for resolving these bugs. As Support tickets are of no use as they just update the ticket with default response.
Hi @manoj_reddy
There is no such restriction for secondary transfers. The issue pertaining to your ID occurred because the initial transfers were made during the early stage of setting up our P&L process. However, our team has now fixed the discrepancies for your account. You’ll soon receive a call from them to ensure that everything is now updated for your account.
Thanks @Ruchi_Porwal for the confirmation.
I’ve received the call from the support personnel and have been acknowledged that the issue is not happening only for the initial transfers when it was in beta but also for the recent ones i transferred after the launch.
Team is going to look into the ticket and provide a resolution
if 2 demat from same broker possible, are we allowed to have 2 trading acc too? so algo trades dont mess with manual trades.
Hi @sandeep_cs
We have rectified the price discrepancy for your account for the transfers done by you on 30th July. You should be able to see the holdings without the discrepancy tomorrow onwards.
Yes, ongoing transfers will not raise any issues related to price discrepancies and you need not transfer your shares to primary demat to resolve for the discrepancies.
I mentioned clearly Zerodha moved price discrepancy to primary account from secondary account . I included the screenshot
Please read this
I have transferred only three stocks / etfs because of this issue , still not sure why this is not solved but rather moved the issue to primary account .
Hi @sandeep_cs
Yes, there was a price discrepancy in the primary holdings after your transfer, as multiple backend tests were running at that time. This has been rectified today. You can now verify the price details of both primary and secondary holdings on Console. The same will reflect correctly on Kite by tomorrow.
No 2 trading account with same broker is not allowed.
In my experience it is working fine - but there is probably some issue with bonus shares (I am guessing it is bonus related). I transferred shares of RELIANCE and the non-bonus shares went through well, but the # of bonus shares I had are showing up as discrepancy. My ticket for it is currently open too. So I would say it is stable but still has some fixes to be done.
Primary demat not showing the discrepancy now ( Not checked buy prices and avg )
Thank you for solving the issues . Hope for new transfer it won’t have any issues…
@Ruchi_Porwal , My ticket is closed without resolving the issue. How many times do i need to repeat the same issue and follow up.
I’ve even had a call with the support personnel and explained the issue still i see the duplicate entries and without even checking whether the issue is resolved how could the ticket be marked as resolved.

This shouldn’t be the case. We’re checking this, Manoj.
Thanks @TheGouda for your quick response
As a basic Courtesy, I expect a minimum to be notified via mail or ticket or sms to check whether the issue has been resolved before marking the ticket as resolved.
Anyway, I’ve updated the comments to help your team further on the scrips where i see an issue.
@TheGouda / @Ruchi_Porwal / @nithin
May i know how the breakdown of the bonus shares will be displayed for the below scenarios as the support personnel are interested only in closing the ticket without understanding the query.
- I’ve received some Bonus shares in the primary account last year and then transferred to the secondary account and in the breakdown the bonus share was having the same date and qty as of the original share

- I’ve received Bonus shares for the scrip that is present in the secondary account, here it is tagged with BONUS and would like to understand how the breakdown will pan out. Is it going to stay like this or there will be three entries of the bonus shares mapped to each share

I’m reaching out in this forumn as support personnel are not able to answer this and just pointing to support links how the bonus shares work.
Could you please help with this for the ticket#20250821753404
For me it shows like this. I have these 50 as Bonus shares, and it comes up like this.

@zoomtrader does the price value for your Bonus shares is set to zero like me or it is having the same price as of your original share price

@nithin, I would like your team to look into this issue and fix all the discrepancies to bring it to a closure as I’ve initiated the transfer of shares on Aug 14th and now it is October and the issue is not resolved yet. This is something pending for a long time and fed up with updating the comments again and again in the ticket
Shows 0 for me.
It took about 1.5 months for me to get this resolved. It does not really matter much at the moment as this is secondary demat so tracking it was not really important for me. I let the team take their time and they came with a fix soon enough. There are still some bugs in the system probably which will fix over time.
The bigger issue for me is the portfolio performance chart that I used to check from time to time. It got completely messed up for me and is practically unusable at the moment lol
Basically dropped from 2300 to 800.
