Sell Order not executed

I placed sell order at 187.4, stock reached at 187.4 but my sell order not executed. This happened twice but order was not executed for sell. What can be the reason for this?

Regard,
RJ

When you set the LIMIT sell order, and the LTP reaches your price, it is not necessary that your order gets filled.

It depends on if sufficient buyers are there in the market to match your sell order.

In this case if LTP reaches 187.4 and my order does not get executed and the market starts coming down, is it possible that my order does not get executed at all? or it will get executed at a lower price where the buyer us available (as LTP 187,4 was already reached, so maybe it got trigerred?)
So, in this case if a buyer is at 187.3, will my Sell LIMIt execute at 187.3?

@Angel_Rishi since your sell order is at 187.4, your order will execute when best buy is at 187.4 or above it. your sell order will never execute below your sell price.

assume there are four sell orders at 187.4 and three got filled and prices fell sharply below 187.4 then your sell order will stay there untill price comes up again above 187.4

Place SL-M orders if you want guaranteed execution.

Ok. Thanks. Now, how to save myself from this situation.
eg: BUY above 100, tgt 1: 105, sl: 95.
To be on a safer side, is this a good idea?
BUY @100.05, tgt: 104.90, sl:95
?
Should I also see the market depth/snap quote or that does not make sense?

Hi Kishy, I’m talking about SELL LIMIT to take profit from a BUY, so it cannot be SLM but has to be SELL LIMIT.

Limit orders are never guaranteed…the situation is same whether u reduce your target by 5-10 points…but that said it is more likely to get filled if put in the target slightly below round numbers and major support and resistance s

What is the best way to put a buy limit order if I want to buy 20000 shares of a company at 0.50?In which way I should put my efforts so that my order get executed as company hit the price?
