Hi, Since Saturday on Budget is day is settlement holiday (as I read somewhere), kindly let me know:
if shares purchased today (Thursday), and pledged tomorrow (Friday), will have collateral margin available on Saturday for the budget day? Or will the margin be available on Monday only? I’m not very familiar with the settlement process, hence the question.

It depends on broker to broker, in Zerodha we allow clients to pledge T1 holdings. Once the shares are received in the client’s account, they are marked as pledged, and the client will start receiving margin from next day. For example, if you buy shares today, they will be delivered to your account tomorrow. At the same time, you can pledge those securities so that on the T+2 day, you will be able to receive margin for them unless there is any short delivery.
