SGB Premature Redemption Queries

There is not much information available regarding the premature redemption of SGBs. This article provides some details, but the form itself is quite complicated.

Could you let me know what to fill in the form for the following fields?

  1. Participant Name
  2. Depository Participant ID
  3. RFN
  4. Account Number
  5. Name of the security
  6. Name of the issuing Company

Additional queries

  1. Should the “Participant Authorization” section also be filled by me or will it be filled by the DP?
  2. Once you receive the courier and process the request, will you send me the acknowledgement?
  3. The article mentions that there will be a processing charge of Rs. 150 plus GST. I assume this is on a per redemption basis, irrespective of the number of units that I will be redeeming
  4. If the SGB is pledged, do I need to unpledge it before sending the request form, or will the Zerodha team unpledge it on or before premature redemption date?

Hi Mr. Roy,

We have outlined below what needs to be filled in the request form. Please review it and reach out to us if you have any questions.

1. RFN: Ignore this space, it will be filled by the DP

2. Date: You can fill in the date here.

3. Account number: Your 16 digit account number (DP client ID- 12081600/1-********)

4 . Account holder Name: Fill in the first / sole holder name here

5. No. of Securities to be repurchased / redeemed: Mention the number of Securities/ units to be processed.

6 and 7. Mention the quantity in words and in fractional units.

8. Name of the security: Mention the name of the security/ scheme name here.

9. Name of the issuing company: Will be RBI/ You can mention Government of India (GOI).

10. Face Value: Fill in the face value / issue price ( Leave it blank in case you are not sure).

11. ISIN: Fill in the ISIN number here (You can find it in your holding statement or leave it blank in case you are not sure).

12, 13 & 14. Holders name and signature: Mention the holder/'s name and sign in the space provided.

15. Account number: Will be filled by the DP

16. ISIN: Will be filled by the DP

17. Account holder Name: Will be filled by the DP

Ans: yes, it must be filled by the client.

  1. Once you receive the courier and process the request, will you send me the acknowledgement?

Ans: Yes, courier team sends you the acknowledgment through SMS, Once we have processed the request we will also send you a PDF acknowledgment generated by the CDSL system.

Ans: Yes, It will be charged on ISIN basis and not based on number of units.

  1. If the SGB is pledged, do I need to unpledge it before sending the request form, or will the Zerodha team unpledge it on or before premature redemption date?
    Ans: You need to unpledge before sending us the request

P.S. - Would save us a lot of time and effort if the premature redemption request process is done online, instead of offline.

Ans: You can send us a request form duly signed( wet signature needed ) and filled by creating a ticket and attaching the soft copy of the request form.

In case you are not sure of the information to be filled leave it blank/ raise a ticket and we will be able to guide you accordingly.
