Short Term ASM Framework for F&O Stocks

NSE in its recent circular issued on 28th April has decided to extend Short Term Additional Surveillance Measures (ASM) to the stocks that trade in the Futures and Options segment, these changes come into effect from May 2, 2022 onwards. You can check the announcement from the exchange here.

The additional surveillance initiative is part of SEBI and the Exchanges initiative to enhance market integrity and safeguard the interest of investors.

As per the joint surveillance meeting of exchanges and SEBI the Short Term ASM framework has been extended to:

  • Derivative stocks (stocks that trade in the Futures and Options segment)

  • All Corresponding F&O Contracts of the above mentioned shortlisted derivative stocks.

Action on stocks shortlisted as per above criteria:

Below margins will be applicable on the stocks that are shortlisted as per the above criteria:

Stage 1: 50% or total existing margins whichever is higher, with maximum rate of margins capped at 100%

Stage 2 : 100% or existing total margins, whichever is higher, with maximum rate of margins capped at 100%

For corresponding F&O contracts of the stocks shortlisted as per above criteria;

Stage 1: 50% or total existing margins, whichever is higher.

Stage 2 : 100% or existing total margins, whichever is higher.
