There is still lot of confusion on stt charges for in the money option. As every broker quotes different thing.
I would like to know if buy index option say nifty 25 lots at strike price 21650 and it expires in the money 21658 and i dont exit it. So what will be the stt charged on the same. And secondly
Is it applicable for evry index i.e nifty banknifty sensex finnifty etc
The STT for Long ITM index options that are left to expire is applicable at 0.125% on the intrinsic value of the option. In your scenario, the intrinsic value of the option is Rs. 8 (21658 Spot Price - 21650 Strike Price).
The STT will be Rs. 0.5 (8 x 0.125 / 100) * (50 lot size). For 25 lots will be Rs. 12.5.
Yep, this is applicable for all Index options.
