The ₹100 Crore Club: What the Latest Tax Data Reveals

The Finance Ministry informed Parliament that 576 individuals reported a gross income of over ₹100 crore in AY 2025–26.

A year ago, that number was 415…

What’s even more striking is that the number of ₹100 crore+ income earners has grown 300% in just five years.

Is this a sign of faster wealth creation driven by strong businesses and a booming stock market? or are better tax reporting and compliance making the numbers more visible than before?

Either way, it’s a fascinating trend and one worth keeping an eye on.

What’s driving this change the most in your opinion?

How many of these were already earning ~90Cr denominated in non-INR.
and the INR deprecating by ~10% over the year
led to them now being classified in the 100Cr+ annual income bracket
without anyone having to do anything significant?
