The size of the FAANG companies is scary

FAANG companies in numbers look humongous

Why is growth “Scary” - Not sure if I understand the “title impact”.

All these companies are poised to become even bigger. The buying of competitors or the elimination of them altogether means that there really is no stopping these companies. This might seem scary as all our data is now under the eyes of only few companies but at the same time there are no comparable alternatives.

Instead of this, we can look at the size of ‘most valuble companies’ (by market cap).
FAANG is an informal name (found during some CNBC interview I think). There is no certain parameters for this catergory except they say it is ‘Top performing’.
Also they have included only US companies.

Refer to the below pic for most valuble companies

FAANG as an acronym is used for big tech companies. it represents new age technology companies which are huge and growing. It is no longer an informal name. It is becoming common name for new age invesntors.

As such Mirae Asset recently launched an ETF in India “Mirae Asset NYSE FANG+ ETF” to capture the theme.

Yes because all big technology companies are US based.

ok fine. Does it have any proper parameter to include a company into this catergory ?
Let’s say Intel (as an example) , Who will include this in such categories ? What para-meters will they look at ?

“When something grows too big there is no room for growth” - Found it on internet (for this category).

Well, that’s not always true. May be just the major ones.

For additional reference you all can refer to this article (if you don’t know about FAANG).

Well few hours back you didn’t know what FAANG stood for, and now you are sharing articles on FAANG.
I would call that progress :stuck_out_tongue:

That article is for the people who don’t know what FAANG is (like me).

By that logic, Google had changed its name to alphabet… so now maaan. :joy::joy:

MAANA is also looked as an alternate option

FAANG stocks now getting hammered left, right and centre. After Meta crashing by 25% yesterday, I guess today is going to be Amazon’s turn as its results were below expectation and after market price is already showing as 12.7% down to 96$ from 110$

Good news is, even if these heavyweights are crashing big time, the NASDAQ is quite stable and is not falling much.

Yes. It is scary to see FAANG size. They can buyout budding companies without any sweat. Most young entrepreneurs these days want to be bought out or atleast get funding from them. US dominance looks established also because these companies control information world over except China/Russia.

These companies can dethrone any govt in the world.

That’s the reason China is going after it’s Tech giants like Alibaba, Tencent, Didi these days.
They believe that if we don’t cut their wings now, these companies will be in a position to blackmail CCP in the years to come.
