The end of the internet as we know it?
When the US Congress passed a law, Section 230 (originally part of the Communications Decency Act, with just 26 words, the internet changed forever. Section 230 states:
“No provider or user of an interactive computer service shall be treated as the publisher or speaker of any information provided by another information content provider.”
Simply put, if you post something nasty about your local politician, internet platforms like Facebook or Twitter can’t be responsible for it. Only you can be sued because you wrote the content. Platforms were off the hook.
But now things have changed. Platforms are not just marketplaces for ideas anymore, they have their own algorithms which push certain content to specific users and can create thought bubbles. With this development, Section 230 is facing a new challenge. With changing times, it might have to evolve.
India has also developed its own law for platforms and the responsibilities they will have to fulfill. This PRS summary covers the gist of The Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021.

The number of children born per woman in India had dropped to 2.0 by 2019. To maintain a stable population, 2.1 births per woman are necessary.
