To Create multiple Folios in a Single Mutual Fund

Hello,
Is there an option to create a new folio number in a Mutual Fund for segregating and tracking the investments separately for different goals?

For Example, I’m investing for my ‘Retirement’ goal in a Mutual Fund XXX with a folio number 123. Now, I want to make additional investment in the same fund but for a different goal like ‘Children Education’ and I want to track my investments separately.
But, I don’t see any such option to create a new folio available on the Coin App.

Could you help me with this?

Regards-Mahesh

Coin limitation - There is no setting in Coin to choose “Create New Folio” while investing.

I use Kuvera for mutual fund investments. It gives you option of creating a new folio or use an existing folio during investment.

I think Mfcentral also provides the folio selection option.

Probably because Coin indirectly benefits zerodha by putting MFs in Demat increasing annual fee slab rates.

Also why they never implemented SOA

In that case, is it possible to add “notes” for each mutual fund on coin like we have notes for each stock on Kite?

In demat mode your demat would be the folio. For different folios, you need to do in SoA mode. Kuvera allows it.

how? they don’t charge you DP charges for MF?

AMC fees. Most accounts are valid for BSDA. The Demat AMC is a significant source of income for Zerodha and Nithin was vocal about it:

The amount of Annual Maintenance Charges (AMC) we collect changes with the new Basic Services Demat Account (BSDA) thresholds set by the regulator. Essentially, we can charge full AMC from customers with a demat holding of Rs 10 lakhs and more, as opposed to 4 lakhs today. Combined with us removing the account opening fee, this would be a meaningful drop in revenue.

Making Coin free but pushing slab rates of many accounts to threshold make business sense - just my opinion and I might be wrong.
