Using G-Secs (Coin) as margin for F&O (Shoonya)

Hi all,

I have invested in some G-Secs via coin. (i.e. Primary issuance, not secondary)

I am trading F&O on Shoonya (not Zerodha, because of the high brokerage costs). However, I have kept some cash margin in shoonya in order to sell options.

How do I use my G-Secs as margin on the shoonya platform?

Options:
1). Buy some G-Secs via secondary trading on Shoonya platform (using the same cash I have kept as margin money). Then use the secondary bought G-Secs as margin.
(Will g-secs be liquid? Will secondary traded bought g-sec inventory be valid as margin?)

2). Somehow transfer the coin g-secs to shoonya dmat (i think there is some multi step process taking a few days). Then use that as margin.

3). Anything else?

Please advice.

1.) Enable CDSL easiest on both the demat and transfer holding from coin demat to Shoonya as self-transfer(you can find the steps on the Zerodha support portal, but the initial setup is non-trivial). It’s an instant transfer, but Shoonya will take one day to show up on their platform and one day to pledge.
The issue you might face is that your particular Gsec might not be on their pledge list, and then your only option is to sell in almost nil liquidity or move back to coin demat.

thanks Harsh. Let me check their pledge list.
