What asset you would like to invest (if there were never any restrictions)?

if you can invest any asset across the world, what would you buy?
ex: US stocks, London real estate etc.,

  1. Fixed deposits.
  2. Indian top 100 stocks through ETFs and direct investments in stocks
  3. US market ETFs through India. (done to partially hedge against INR depreciation)

what is “Currency hedging based on long Swiss CHF/USD”
is it forex trading in disallowed pairs?

We only compare INR against USD. But USD itself is depreciating against major currencies. By investing in US assets you are basically long on USD(By investing in INR assets you’re long on INR), the amount you’re long on, can be hedged(insured) against depreciation by shorting USD against CHF(long CHF/USD) using options. CHF is just one currency that strengthened against USD. Obviously a diversified basket of currencies may help if the amounts are substantially higher. Many international MF do currency hedging automatically based on their location.
