What is acceptable range of trigger and limit price in stop loss orders?

My stop loss orders are all getting rejected if i place a random trigger and limit price which is quite different than the current price of the stock (lets say 15% difference).

What is the acceptable price range for the trigger and limit price ?

In below example if i put the trigger price as 15 and limit as 17, it gets rejected (though it is a buy order). However 38 as trigger and 39 as stoploss works !!

Also should this range (whetever is acceptable) be within the current NSE value or current bid/ask price?

Hi,

The rejection message that shows in your screenshot is that the trigger price cannot be greater than or equal to the price for a Buy SL order.

This is because for a Buy SL order, the order has to be triggered first before the price is reached.

If you have placed a trigger of 15 and a price of 17, then it is a valid Buy SL order.

There is no limitation on the range between Trigger and Price for a SL order as long as these prices are within the circuit limits of the scrip for the day.

That is always shown by default if it is blank.

Hello,

For a Buy SL, the trigger price has to be lesser than the price in the order window.
