What is the difference between trading indices and index futures?

I want to start trading in nifty futures. But I am not sure where to begin. Can you please tell me the difference between index and index futures. Is trading indices possible? Or do I trade index futures?

Trading directly on an Index is not possible. You will only be able to trade futures and/or options that are based on the Index. Nifty Futures underlying is the nifty index itself.

Hello Traders.

For trading the value of NIFTY indices you will have to use a contract , and this contract entered into between 2 parties is called Indices Futures contract.
