how to open this SPAN file? In windows PC which application has to install to view this?

I know what is the SPAN margin. There is begin day SPAN ® file ,1st Intra-day SPAN ® file, 2nd Intra-day SPAN ® file,…End of day SPAN ® file etc., but span margin is excpected to change at the end of day then why this 1st, 2nd 3rd…?
and i am asking, why this files are in .spn format ? when others are in excel !!
