When i goto investing.com charts i see volume on nifty index. Any idea what they are doing there? It’s not futures volume nor is it cumulative volume.

The index volume that you see if the combined volume of the underlying stocks in the index. The volume data is not very useful as it is not weighted to the index. For example, Yes Bank would contribute hugely to the index volume but its represents only 0.33% of the Nifty 50 Index.

Nothing,giving that won’t add any value and in fact will create noise, any single stock can influence the outcome.
