I want to start automated trading and am looking for a platform that works well and offers an efficient api. Tired of losing because of slippage.
From what i have tested -
- Zerodha works very well and is stable.
- IB probably just as good, but need to understand stuff a bit more and api flow is a bit convoluted.
- Fyers - ok, v1 api was good but occasionally there were stability issues. Don’t know about v2.
- 5 Paisa - Horrific, stay away if they have not changed dramatically in last 1 or 2 years.
How can I learn everything about APIs and algo trading? Is there an easy to learn resource for beginners?
Dunno, i was in IT so knew coding, and i sort of learned as i worked on trading without any specific study of algo trading. You need some trading background and then just some common sense and time/effort.
You can try finvasia, their api works well for me.
It seems Finvasia keeps changing the API functions, etc. My code was working a few days ago … but stopped working suddenly… did you also experience the same issue?
Angel one Api is also free but need to have demat account with angel one to use their apis’s.
Is it the same case with Finvasia also?
Yes u need to open an account with Finvasia to use API. This is the case with all brokers not just Finvasia.
Can someone please share the API performance (stability, speed, infrequent changes with proper communication, support and forum) for Angel One, Alice Blue, Kotak and ICICI Securities please. Shall be very grateful for feedback from its users.
Heard of issues few times from friend for Kotak. Recently, apparently they first cancelled all of his stop orders and then 1min later sent limit orders instead and ended up closing position. Does not seem to be reliable.
When was this?
Stop issue happened recently as i talked with him yesterday ( Another person actually does the execution, they have a sort of joint account). So probably within last week. This is with stocks. Lucky for him he saved some money overall.
Until then, he faced outage once i think with kotak. Other guy is still happy as he wants to trade some with bank broker.
Finvasia in contrast has not given any trouble in that time i think ( ~ 2-3 months).
I have faced too many similar issues at 5 paisa and wasted a lot of time with workaround and pathetic tech support, so wont touch kotak until i get report of a few years of stability from them. Z works so well …
No, I haven’t faced this issue. Did you try reaching out to their live chat support?
