Which commodity is good to trade?

I am looking to trade in commodities. Like in NSE FO Nifty is considered the standard to trade, pls share which commodity should one start trading in? Also pls share the symbol since I see so many. Thanks,

NATURALGAS FUT and Options MCX
CRUDEOIL FUT AND Options MCX

These are mostly traded commodities with good volumes. You can also try Gold and Silver FUT and Options if interested.

Only trade on MCX, do not trade on NCO as they hardly have any volumes.

That really depends on your trading style and risk appetite. Commodities like gold and silver are usually popular choices because they’re considered safe-haven assets and tend to perform well during market uncertainty. On the other hand, crude oil offers strong volatility, which many short-term traders find attractive — but it comes with higher risk.

Agricultural commodities (like wheat or coffee) can also be interesting, though they’re more influenced by seasonal factors and weather conditions.

If you’re just starting out, it’s smart to focus on one or two commodities you can study well instead of trying to trade everything at once. Platforms like Exclusive Markets provide access to a wide range of commodities, along with tools and resources to analyze them before making decisions.

Never made a loss in GOLDM.

If you’re starting commodity trading on MCX, go with Crude Oil or Gold. These are the most liquid and widely traded contracts, similar to how Nifty is the benchmark in NSE F&O.

  1. Crude Oil Futures

    • Symbol: CRUDEOIL
    • Mini Contract: CRUDEOILM
    • High volatility, good for intraday setups.
  2. Gold Futures

    • Symbol: GOLD
    • Mini Contract: GOLDM
    • Lower volatility than crude, but stable trends.
  3. Silver Futures

    • Symbol: SILVER
    • Mini Contract: SILVERM
    • Good for swing trades, slightly wider spreads.
  4. Natural Gas Futures

    • Symbol: NATURALGAS
    • Mini Contract: NATURALGASM
    • Fast-moving, low margin requirement.
  5. Zinc Mini

    • Symbol: ZINCMINI
    • Lower volatility, good for small capital.

Start with Crude Oil Mini (CRUDEOILM) or Zinc Mini (ZINCMINI) if your capital is limited. These have lower margin requirements and decent liquidity.

Avoid agri commodities initially—they’re less liquid and more news-sensitive.
