I’ve read on varsity that it is based on brent crude oil but the chart seems like wti futures.
As you can see the high May high is broken on crudeoil WTI and mcx chart but not in brent. Even the prices are equal to WTI after converting to rupee.

It is Light sweet crude oil which is WTI and NOT brent.
Same is confirmed from the MCX Crude oil spec sheet.
