Why are GTC and GTD orders not available for equity, F&O? Is it restricted by the exchanges or the brokers?

I think the Equity exchanges do not allow placing GTC/GTD orders. Currently all pending orders get canceled at the end of the day.

However some brokers do provide the facility of placing GTC/GTD orders for the Equity segment through a workaround. How they do it is, they collect all unexecuted orders post market closing, save them on their servers and resend the orders the next trading day.

It is simply because there is no system/ mechanism in place, for the Indian exchanges to handle GTC orders.
